Aurora Police Officer Shoots Armed Man During Family Disturbance Call

Aurora, Colorado — On June 14, 2025, at about 5:45 p.m., Aurora Police Officers responded to a family dispute call, in the 15800 block of East Arkansas Drive. The shooting occurred about 6 p.m. A 58-year-old Aurora man was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured during the incident. The preliminary investigation has determined the incident stemmed from a domestic disturbance between a husband and wife. When officers arrived at the scene the couple separated, and the husband went to the garage. Officers were speaking with the husband about the disturbance when he produced a handgun from a toolbox. Officers gave the husband multiple directions to drop the weapon. The husband pointed the firearm at the officers and an officer-involved shooting occurred. One officer fired during the incident. The involved officer has been placed on paid administrative leave, in accordance with agency policy.
