On Friday, June 27, 2025, two Vietnam Airlines aircraft, a Boeing 787-9 and an Airbus A321, collided on a taxiway at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport. The 787, taxiing for departure, struck the tail of the stationary A321, which was waiting to depart for Dien Bien. No injuries were reported, but both aircraft sustained damage and were grounded for inspection.
The incident occurred at 2:23 PM local time at the intersection of taxiways S and S3. The Boeing 787, operating flight VN7205, was taxiing towards runway 11R/29L, while the Airbus A321, operating flight VN1804, was stationary on a rapid exit taxiway. Preliminary investigations suggest the A321 may have been positioned too far forward, contributing to the collision.

Both Vietnam Airlines flights were delayed, with passengers being rebooked onto alternative flights. Aviation authorities in Vietnam are investigating the incident. The Northern Airports Authority and the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam are working to determine the precise cause of the collision, focusing on operational and human factors
